This was one of the very first paintings I did that was inspired by Big Bend.  I had just visited for the first time, and as you know if you have been yourself, it is an incredible place filled with towering rock formations, treacherous terrain, and beautiful views. We experienced sudden storms sweeping through the desert bringing rain, strong wind, and lightning. I decided to create this painting as I imagined what it might have been like many years ago for a couple riders and their horses traveling through this unpredictable land.
