Out of the Blue

While I have taken many trips out into the Big Bend country, it wasn’t until recently that I had the chance to try primitive camping in the park. The increased isolation and necessity to provide for all your needs only added to the excitement of a week in the wilderness. One evening several days into the trip, I was photographing the skyline when seemingly out of thin air, this large thunderhead roiled up from the horizon. I was amazed at how quickly it had appeared, and within a half hour, we were scrambling to secure our campsite as a violent storm swept over us.
