One of my favorite places anywhere in the world has got to be Colorado. As populated as this country is, there are still large swaths of wilderness where you could lose yourself. In the San Juan Mountains in southern Colorado, you can find a small canyon with crystal clear, icy water flowing swiftly from a small waterfall in the distance. Rainbow trout dart out from under rocks to pick off the little flying insects. I sat on one of these rocks in the middle of the stream to capture the scene in front of me.
This illustration is in archival ink using shading techniques such as stippling, hatching, and scumbling.
