Mountain Mama
-SOLD-
Those who know and love the Big Bend country will tell you that the smallest cacti, insect, or fossil can be just as impressive as the larger spectacles. While I love taking the time to explore the small things, for this painting I knew I wanted to go big!
Within the basin there no are shortage of amazing views, but a photograph of Casa Grande that I took during a hike spoke to me from the moment I saw it on the camera screen. I often try to incorporate wildlife into grand landscapes, and the sloping foreground gave me an opportunity to include a large predator I had never painted before- a black bear! To be specific, a proud mother leading her two precocious cubs. “Mountain Mama” was an extremely enjoyable challenge as I got to tackle one of the park’s most prominent landmarks and most impressive creatures!
Please send me a message if you are interested in the painting!
