Original Oil Painting #2 “Chasing Silver”

“Chasing Silver” is the second oil painting I attempted after “Barely A Trace” and depicts a scene that can be found here and there among the steep mountain slopes and disappearing wilderness trails. Before tourism and winter sports, mining and the prospect of quick wealth were the siren songs that drew many an adventurous soul to this rough mountain terrain. Today, their small stone and wood shacks, beaten and crumbling from time and harsh weather, stand like small monuments to days gone by. I wanted to paint what I imagined one of these shacks might have looked like when it was newly-built, before the onset of winter.

This 11″x14″ oil painting is done on canvas panel, and every dollar from its sale will go towards helping New Braunfels Bible Church repair from the winter storm!
