In a vast landscape, it can be surprisingly easy to lose your bearings. Recognizable landmarks appear foreign when the light begins to fade, and it can feel like being out on an ocean without a guide. This painting was my attempt to show the vastness of the high desert while also experiencing the joy of stumbling upon an old path in all that wilderness.
