Sleeping Giant
$55.00
While there are no shortage of amazing, art-worthy locations in the Pacific Northwest, this illustration which was inspired by that area, actually originated entirely in my head. I have loved drawing forests and mountains since I was little, and the composition of this scene came quickly once I began drawing. Eventually I realized I wanted something more specific included, and I decided to illustrate Mt. St. Helens on the horizon. As most of you know, this mountain is famous for the massive, cataclysmic eruption that occurred in 1980. I chose to show the mountain as it appeared before the fateful day when it and the surrounding lands were changed forever. Is this Mt. St. Helens centuries, years, days, or mere moments before eruption? You decide.
This illustration is in archival ink using the stippling technique (thousands of dots making up an image).
