Terlingua Thunder
Those who know Big Bend are certain to also know the tiny, eclectic, historic, and altogether unique ghost town of Terlingua. I have enjoyed many evenings walking through the abandoned miner’s huts, the local cemetery, and trying the handful of local restaurants. You can also book lodging with several of the residents who open their properties to visitors. It was while I was staying at one of these that the already fantastic view of the park was enhanced even more by the golden sunset lighting up an impressive thunderhead. This painting is my attempt to capture that moment and to show a bit of Terlingua’s outskirts; the last few houses before the long expanse of desert that stretches into the distance.
